Local Directories vs Google
I’ve noticed that whenever I search for local services, Google throws a ton of ads and big companies at me first. Sometimes I just want someone nearby who actually works in the area and isn’t paying to be at the top of the results. I’ve started wondering if local business directories might actually be more useful for everyday needs. For people who’ve tried both, do you find directories give better results than regular Google searches?

I used to rely only on Google, but over time I got tired of sorting through sponsored results and businesses that weren’t even close by. What changed things for me was using fraser valley local, because it narrows everything down to services that actually operate here. I still check reviews, but I like that directories focus more on local presence than ad budgets. It feels easier to compare options without all the noise, especially when you’re not in a rush.
